Avacinsky Volcano

Avachinsky rises near the pyramid of Karyaksky Volcano. It is closer to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and its lower part resembles that of west neighbor, but from the middle of its height the cone was cut off and a new summit was built. The young cone is significantly smaller size that the summit exploded, part of space of which it occupies. This active cone is surrounded by blocks that like "the collar" frame the beheaded summit of ancient volcano, "the somma". The pedestal of the young cone, is the basement of the huge cone cut through by deep gullies, which, like slopes of neighboring volcanoes, was not captured but the catastrophe of caldera formation. Many years ago Avachinsky didn't differ from its "brothers". The volcano lost its summit as a result of a violent volcanic catastrophe, the blast which threw away the upper part of the cone and formed the calders-somma, the pedestal for a young cone.
A pale slight fume and occasionally strong gas jets rise above Avachinsky. This volcano is smoking almost continuously.
